Frequently Asked Questions about PackWalks
What are these “pack walks” you speak of? Can I just show up with my dog for a pack walk?
Yes! We have staff-led pack walks every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. sharp. Just show up on time with your dog at a $10 / dog. Humans free! Be ready for a 5 km walk with hills through our network of trails.
A few pointers about our pack walks:
- Weather Permitting: If it is dreadful out – a snow storm, a thunderstorm, icy conditions on the trails – we will not run a pack walk. Please call ahead if you are unsure.
- Staff Pack Walk Leaders: Please follow the instructions of our pack walk leaders at all times. It is their responsibility to keep everyone – two-legged and four-legged – safe and relaxed while enjoying the trails at Killara Station.
- Starting Out: Meet near the parking lot at 2:00 p.m. sharp. Please keep your dog on a lead until the Pack Walk Leader indicates that they can come off lead.
- Off-Lead vs On Lead: Our pack walk leaders are experienced dog people. If we are unfamiliar with your dog, we strongly recommend you keep your dog on a leash for their first pack walk. After that, our leaders will advise with regard to your next pack walk. If we know your dog well, our leaders can advise right away whether they are comfortable with your dog off lead.
- Trackers: There is some handy and reliable technology out there for your dogs to have on their collars that make off lead walks less stressful. We recommend these to anyone taking their dogs off lead anywhere. Please ask your Pack Walk Leader for more information.
- Dogless Walkers: Actually, you don’t need a dog! Just show up for a walk with so many dogs! A donation to our rescue efforts would be appreciated.
